Soap Makers Help!

ok so here is the recipe I used:

1/2 lbs vegishortening
1/4 lbs coconut oil
1/4 lbs EVOO 2 oz lye
1 cup water

what I did was ounces to grams (felt that grams is more accurate)

I got:
226 g shortening
113 g coconut
113 g evoo
56 g lye
226 g water

I mixed lye to water very slowly (noted not as violent a reaction as I thought there would be!)
heated/melted the oilds together then used my stick blender to mixed the lye to the oils.

I wasnt sure what trace was but when it happened I know it!!! the top of the mix became kinda like I could drawn in it..... like putty almost... I then poured it in the pan and I am letting it sit!!!!

I hope it turns out....

I'm donating a couple of plates of soap I am going to put together tonight for a church fundraiser. I know one family for sure is going to be at the auction and hopefully either they are someone else will get it. Still trying to get my name out there for everyone to know that I make soap

That's great chiknwhisperer! I can't wait to hear how it goes.

As an aside. . . We were away from home this weekend, staying in a hotel while visiting friends. We decided not to take our soap with us since it was such a short trip. After showering with the hotel soap we were all itchy and dry feeling and couldn't wait to get home to our home made soap!

So, once you get a few people hooked, you just may have a customer base!

It IS like chickens lol. Although I will admit

I haven't gotten to the next batch I was going to do just yet because things have been so crazy here. I think my kids are trying to kill me with stress.

My youngestson who is 6 learned some bad things from his oldest brother and his grandfather who both suffer from depression and now he is going around and saying horrible things that just break my heart. So needless to say I'm not sure at this point how many days it will be before I get that next batch started but I hope it is soon.
