Soap Makers Help!

I tried and thats why I am not counting that one lol.
Its ok but not at all what I wanted. I just couldn't get it far enough down.

Would it work to do a quick stir into the traced soap before pouring or would that just turn into a blobby mess?

I'm not sure about the blobby mess but I swirled again tonight but this time I used my new mold. I definitely see where I made my mistakes so hopefully I don't repeat them next time. I really can't wait to see if it turns out ok when I unmold tomorrow night. I used two colors in it and I think I used to much soap for making each color. Also because of that it just doesn't look right.

I really need to try this.. you add coco powder correct.. how much per pound of soap? Do you have to add fragrance or does the coco power make them smell nummy?

IM going to do it! and sorry if this was asked but what do you use to cut? not the zig zag thing but how they are so uniform.. this last time I cut I slid them out of the mold an inch then sliced using the side of the mold as a guide. This worked out the best so far for strait up and down lines and better thickness uniformity but still not as perfect as this perfectionist wants them to be LOL

smom - for a smallish batch I use one block of bakers extra dark chocolate. I put it in the oils and let it slowly melt along with them. When it is all melted you can better decide if you want to add another peice to make it darker or leave it like it is.

My husband made me a slicing box that is exactly the same size as the log mold boxes he built me.

I just found the cutest thing online. One of my boys is still trying to work on getting up at night to use the bathroom but he never hears the alarm clock. I just found one that sounds like a rooster lol. If that was right next to my head I would wake up.
Oh and according to the same DS. My soap looks like Yoda's puke. Exact words without sound effects.

CW,

Pour the colored soap at a lighter trace to get more delicate swirls. Also, after pouring the colored soap, use a skewer and drag the color back and forth, then up and down.

To make sure that color goes all the way to the bottom of the mold (be it log or slab), pour at a lighter trace and from a greater height. Again, use the skewer.

To do an In The Pot Swirl, pour colored soap at varying height into your soap pot. Again, you want the soap to penetrate to the bottom AND be suspended in the soap AND have some on top.

Pour back and forth into your log mold.

I use about 1/3 of my soap in a batch for the colored portion.

I wouldn't market it as Yoda puke though, even Star Wars fans will probably not buy that! When I saw it I thought of Mardi Gras!

I am not taking the leap to soaping yet but really enjoying following the post until I get brave enough! I found a lady locally who gives lessons and she does a lot of soaping so that will be the route I take I think!
