Soap Makers Help!

The chocolate is 4 3/4 and that sandalwood next to it 5 1/4 . Thats not to bad is it? I really like how the chocolate turned out. I think that is the best one I've done.

Mine turn out around the 5 oz mark too. The salt bars are all over 6 oz though. I think I like the larger size bars better than the guest size one I was first doing.

The same here. Although my MIL seems to think I should stick to the fancy ones because according to her the ladies at work like them better. I might do them every now and then but I'm not doing them constantly. Once I get really good at swirling she will change her mind. She is really all about ladies liking dainty things. She doesn't realize that there are a lot of women aren't like that anymore. I know the women she works with and most of them don't care if the soap was made in a fancy mold or not. That part is all my MIL. Here is a perfect example. For my bridal shower I wanted to put tools on my registry. She told me not to because that was not appropriate for a lady. Mind you my MIL is far from a lady when it comes to having gas lol

I'm really pleased with those ones. DH said I cango ahead and apply for the farmers market season instead of doing it week by week

And I sold two more bars of soap today

Sales are slowly starting to pick up.

I always use my vise-grips to pull the dividers. I start with a divider closest to the side and work across to the other side. Pull up on one end of the divider a little, then the other end. Back and forth. As you use the mold, the easier they are to pull up.

Swirling in a slab mold is so much easier ... at long as your soap isn't too thin or too thick!

Cheeptrick, was it you who used juice to color your soaps? Have you ever used carrot juice? If you have, what % as you liquid and what color was the final bar? I'm planning my breakfast bar and I was thinking of using carrot juice as 1/2 the liquid with buttermilk making up the other half. I was going to use egg yolks (1 PPO) and add grits for texture with a touch of honey.

What do all you other soapers think?

Cornmeal would be a finer a grit for every day use for females. Hardworking outdoor construction type males benefit from grits more as an exfoliant - I have found.

while I was making my 2nd batch of soap I kept thinking about that movie fight club.......does any one know what I am refering to? how yucky that would be to make soap with the fat he used!!!

BLAH!!!!

I have to admit I have plenty of that kind of fat laying around that I could spare to loose!!!!
