Soap Makers Help!

Cinnamon EO smells just like redhots out of the bottle, lol. Mellows and deepens I think in the finished soap. I like that it is cheap and I used at .25 oz PPO and still had a strong smell.

Lemongrass is like lemon with an earthy undertone. It is supposed to stay very well in CP soap, unlike most citris eo.

I have heard that some company's sent them out too, but I am not sure who that was. I guess it can't hurt to ask them. I have started to keep my own notes on all the fragrances I have used so far for future references.

How is you community garden going?

Ok, I stole batteries from the remote, (shhh, don't tell dh) So here is a picture of the lavender rosemary salt bar. I am just in love with the scent. Makes me want to spring clean! It is a very soft light green with little flecks from the sea kelp. Next time I'm going to use a 1/4 cup for my 4 lb. batch.

I also wanted to show how the bars with the failed yogurt is darkened. Looks much better. I calling it Grandma's Kitchen.

Slowly at the moment. The past couple of months have been a series of unfortunate events - rain, Santa Ana winds, holidays, and illnesses, plus some additional time put in by some members to get the Angel Food program off the ground. (You know how it goes, the people who volunteer usually have their hands in multiple pots!) Thankfully, we covered some of the ground with plastic sheeting as things were getting complicated. Still, the areas that were uncovered are in need of some serious weeding. The goal is to get back out there next weekend. The tomato and pepper sale is coming up in a few weeks and we have plans to go shopping and get them in the ground. The fruit trees are in bloom so it looks like it could very well be a productive year for them. I can't wait to see how they do! As soon as we're weeded and properly back in action, I'll post more pictures at the sister gardening site (TEG) and provide a link.

I love Texas Natural Supply it is awesome on price, items, info, and service. I made some purple soap for the swap that has buttermilk, lavender flowers , and scented with Lavenilla. My dh is in love with it. I got the fo from Sourthern Scents and I owe MLF a big thank you cause I found these sites thru her site.

I unmolded my second batch of soap from my new mold earlier. I'll have to take pics when I go downstairs and show you. That mold is wonderful! I find that it is a little hard to unmold but the trouble is well worth it. I'm sure with practice I will be able to unmold much easier. More soaping is on the schedule for tomorrow lol

I did okay with the first batch but the second one was a chocolate ( sems to be a running favorite besides my oatmeal

Anyway I don't think I left it in to long but I had a heck of a time pulling out the dividers. They were being extremly stubborn. I used my pliers to do it but I was almost ready the get my vicegripes.
Should I start with the outside of the mold first or keep with the inside?
I'll be posting pics in a few minutes when I get them up on photobucket.

They are not the best pictures because I was in a hurry but here they are. The soap on the right hand side is sandalwood. That was my first batch in the new mold but I was impatient and unmolded a little to soon. Needless to say I won't do that again.

chiknwhisperer, Those look fantastic! Love the color. How many ounces are those babies? They look nice and thick.

MissPrissy, Thanks. I usually cut them as soon as the gell is finished and it's still pretty hot but we had to run to Houston to get some stuff hubby needed for the house so it was in there for a couple of extra hours.

Backyard Buddies, Thanks I'm glad you like the pictures. I take them on the back balcony cause they seem to turn out much better outside. I use the Macro setting on the camera and I think that really helps. I hope everything goes well with your garden and you get some more helpers.
