I made these yesterday and sliced them this morning.

I went and took a look at them and I like them but I have a question. Do yo bag your soap in them after they purchase them? How do you label them? Right now I have a bunch of shrink wrap that I would at least like to use up and then try out the bags and the boxes and see which one I like best. If you don't mind sharing how you use the bags that would be great. Thanks

I package them 'right' before a show...keeps the packaging nice and neat that way. And I cigar band around the muslin...I'll have to upload a pic.

I change the cigar band paper from time to time...I love that map paper though. It is also the BOX topper on my internet orders....I box them and package them pretty for internet orders. The map paper is TRUE recycled map paper cut to print in 8.5 x 11 printer.
I also just started using a WAX stamp to seal the boxes....very pretty...and colonial looking....I use green or blue wax...in my hot glue gun. Very fun...my favorite part of the packaging.

Sometime in the future...I'll get 4 color process gloss print...so the ink does not run if the label gets wet.

Alas...next phase in the business plan!!

Thanks BirdBrain. I might have to look into that. How do the ripples feel in your hands when lathering up? I like the smooth feel of the bars, but the ripples intrigue me.

Cheeptrick,
That is really nice looking. I wouldn't have thought about copywriting them but that is a great idea with all the idiot theives on the internet any more. Now I understand about the packaging. Thanks for the pic, it always puts things in a better light for me. Your right it does look really nice that way. I'm definitly going to have to try your way and the boxes because I really don't know what people would like around here. I just never see any handmade soaps anywhere when I go out and I keep my eyes open for them. I know of one other lady in the area who is making her own but she already has a store that has a bunch of other gifts and things in it. One other store owner I talked to already has a lady that that she buys soaps from in the spring. There is a salon in town but tehy don't carry any thigns like that and neither does the other one. DH told me to look for spas so I'm going to try that eventually. But first I'm going to get ready for the market.

I'm 3 years into the business plan...it is hard to get started. Shop it around...and know that there will be a NO from time to time...do not let it discourage you. Your soaps and packaging will evolve as time goes on...it is fun...BUT a ton of research. You'll find something you like and make it your own...and you'll see what customers like by what they buy.
