Soap Makers Help!

My husband made me a few molds from leftover bits of wood. Took him like half an hour to make 3 molds. I line w/ parchment paper, so it doesn't matter that they aren't perfectly tight.

They are log molds, which I much prefer. I have a problem w/ bubbles and ash in slab molds for some reason. I use 4lb log molds and just fill as many molds as I want instead of having bigger molds for when I want to double or triple a batch.

Alright...one of you had trouble getting soap out of pvc molds. I just did my second batch in the pvc. My first slipped right out since I greased with vaseline. This time I figured there was enough vaseline left in there to do. I was wrong. I tried an hour in the freezer..nope. I tried warming the outside over the woodstove....nope. Now what?

How long did you leave it in the freezer??? I left mine all night I think & the next morning once it started sweating it came right out. That was without any vas or spray of any kind......try leaving it all night.

Glad you got them out. I got some made this weekend taht I need to get cut. I'm doing pretty good on the swirls going to try something new.

I did "Lake Effect Snow" which is white with a blue swirl..and "Gingerbread Confetti" which is the one that got stuck

That was batch 17 and 18.

I got my DBA and Tax ID and I've started playing with a website.

Somehow my hobbies always take on a retail spin....

Are you going to share pictures???? What does the Lake effect snow smell like? My DD wants me to get a Christmas scent & I think I need to get a man scent also. Any suggestions??

Glad you are setting up to sell, I hope to sometime but have alot more to learn yet.

Congrats RTR on getting ready to sell! Can't wait to see the new soaps. Have you thought about using parchment paper or those silicone baking sheets in your PVC pipe mold? You can just cut to length and tape in place. It shouldn't stick at all then.

Here are a couple of pictures of mine I finally got uploaded to my website.

My favorite soap, Oatmeal Milk Honey

Sooner, a great man's scent is Green Irish Tweed (scent works and southern garden scents have it), Dragon's Blood (I use SGS) or Burberry for Men.
