Your soap will contain more air bubbles. Each bar should float, but with the excess air, won't last as long.

The recipes I've seen are all measured by volume and not weight. DANGEROUS for a quantity of soap that small. Any recipe using under 3 lb of oils I convert to grams. The smaller the batch of soap, the more accurate you need to be with your ingredients.

I met with my first wholesale buyer today. She voiced her opinion about individually wrapping soaps. It's not the first time I've heard it. She bought 2 displays for an upcoming holiday fair, but wants any soap that she displays in her shop to be wrapped in plastic. What are your thoughts???

FYI...her shop is a massage place right on the main street in town. Very quaint and quiet.

Absolutely. Paper gets dirty and dusty and needs to be replaced. Think plastic on the soap wears much better in displays and moving.

I use shrink wrap bands from MMS (thesage.com). They come in two sizes. The ends are open to allow for breath-abilty

I joined the HSMG yesterday, (my xmas gift to myself) so I have my product liability insurance taken care of now.

After working all day and chore time last night I found a pocket of energy and made 2 batches of soap. Peppermint Candy and a Naked bar.

I love being productive

Silly question...but I am still learning. Can I double my tried and true soap recipe if I do it precisely?

Just plug it into a calculator like soap calc and then resize.

I've accomplish a lot this weekend (as far as the soap). We got our shopping cart added to the website, I've packaged 200+ bars, made up some gift baskets, 2 new batches of soap (may do another tonight), just cut some fresh rosemary and thyme to dry for soap.

It's snowing here today so I'd better go grab the rest of the lemon balm and monarda.

My barn is a mess...I promise I'll catch up:/

Tomorrow is my first craft fair. I'll post pix and results. I'm nervous because it was spur of the moment. I was preparing for a small one with a handful of artisans next wkend and then was invited to this one with 57 vendors. yikes...I guess I'm about to get a reality check....one way or another.
