Soap Makers Help!

Quote:
I have used plastic or freezer paper (shiny side to the soap) as liners in my molds. Use the search for Molds and you will get some info on home made wooden molds.

I have a friend that is very good with wood & have the one I want to make saved but since he was so much help when we built our house I thought I should give him a break before I start pestering him about making it.

I also have a large supply of soap even after giving alot way at Christmas. I love using a 3" PVC pipe & a pingles can. I also found some plasic tray things at walmart that work pretty good for now. I just want a better mold for when I am giving it as gifts.

You want it to be pure 100 percent sodium hydroxide. It should say it on the label. Some drain products have other things in them.

Got it.... How long does a pound last, or better phrased how much will a pound make?

we made mine from wood and hinges similiar to the one on this thread. I planned the recipes according to the volume that the mold could hold.

I'm going back to the list of stuff you will need to add some more I've thought of.

that will depend on the size of your recipe.

Is there an estimate on how many bars a pound will make?

A pound of soap (oil, water, lye) will make four 4 oz bars. The ones I gave you today are about 4 oz.
