LOL!

Well, make sure you're holding the molds!!

As for smom1976 - check out chestnutfarm website

some scrap wood and a few hinges and you have a wonderful mold!

chiknwhisperer - Your family is going to love their gift! Post another picture when you get the whole thing put together.

My soaps have been out for packaging all week. The labels come in from the printer today and some of the garden gals will be working this afternoon to start putting them together. Hubby is giving out 3 tomorrow and I'll be giving out another 6 on Saturday. I'm meeting a BYC friend on Sunday to give her 6 more for her Christmas gifting.

I'll take pictures!

With the Big Delete about to happen, I'm hoping my count post will make it to 1000 before it drops again. Other than this and a few other threads, I don't post very often for the nearly 2 years I've been here at BYC. I just hope I get my new title before they take it away again.

I'm going to go tomorrow to get the cellophane and then wrap them up. I made an extra nine to sell. How much do you think I should charge? I was thinking $5 is that to much or to little?

I would expect this to be a soft bar, until it's cured, at least. I wouldn't try to unmold it immediately after gel & cool-down, and I'd also probably not slice or trim it until it had air-cured for a while after being unmolded. MP might have some other ideas. I can tell you it's going to be a lovely bar for your skin!

Will this bar ever harden? We made it on 11/17 and it is still very soft and oily.

It will...eventually. Sorry I can't offer any tips to hurry it along, other than maybe increasing air circulation in the curing area.

But I'm still betting it's going to be worth the wait.

I hope that helps.

I also wanted to share some pictures of the soaps I've made for Christmas gifts this year.

This one I used a lemon verbena fragrance oil and poppy seeds for some color. This batch wasn't quite ready to come out of the mold yet, so the design was messed up a bit. But I'll keep these for our use and just let the next batch sit for a few more hours.

This one is oatmeal, milk and honey. I love the one. I put in ground oats, honey and powdered milk.

I used the Brocade milky way molds from Brambleberry.com

A few questions here.. I used this calculation and my mold that I just finished holds 144 oz.. I did my measurements in inches.. that WAS correct???
My second question is 144 oz.. this is oils, lye, and water all combined CORRRECT?

I want to make a big batch

MP I am ready for some of your recipies LOL

NP~should I give them for Christmas gifts or should I wait? I have plenty of the Buttermilk and some orange scented soap I made so I could give the other to them later. Oh, I have a fan on the bars to try and help them cure. Thanks again for all the help cause I really love making soap.

I have given soaps to people (family and friends) with instructions to let them cure a little longer before use, but they were always pretty darn solid at the time; I just wanted them to "mellow" a little.

Hopefully they'll harden up in the next couple of weeks!

Thanks NP!

I sure hope so and if they don't I might give them to them with instuctions to let them sit out in the air for a couple more weeks. I just hope that they like it and don't think its a joke and just toss in the trash
