Soap Makers Help!

Ok...not all was a total loss on Thanksgiving!! Here is my homemade butter and buttermilk from our local organic dairy farm milk. It was so YUMMY...I put the buttermilk in my mashed potatoes...and saved 8 ozs for a buttermilk soap batch next week. Simple Pleasures! ha My creative 'energy' was zapped from me with my Chlorophyll soap...it had to be rebatched and I HATE rebatching...it completely ruins the nice uniform of the soap (NO i'm not OCD

) The last picture was my turkey for Thanksgiving...so it'll show you all I've had a BAD week! LOL I witnessed an 8 point buck being pulverized right before MY EYES it ran out in front of my car and when I stopped it spooked and ran into oncoming traffic and the other driver was NOT as lucky...we actually missed the darn thing twice it literally FLEW thru the air and the CAR behind me hit it! (rutting season OY). We were very lucky!!!
BUT anyhow...here is the soap...it has been rebatched and is sitting in the mold...I'll spare you MY disappointment in it and NOT post pictures until I cut! LOL It did stay green thru the rebatching process...

Chlorophyll GREEN Botched Soap...the end pieces was where most of the lye was concentrated...this batch did GEL.

Patchouli, lavender, and vanilla confetti....we have fun with this one.

AND my apple cider brined turkey...it looks BURNED...but it wasn't. DH and I cracked up laughing at my kids facial expressions!

Ok...Ok...it was slightly charred...LOL IT did taste GREAT though! YES we still ate it...

I'm not a picky eater.

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.

That was my soap with apple cider....it came out very lovely!! I LOVE the apple cider in it...it really does something to your skin...apples are actually closer in PH to our skin at around 5.5 ph....also a best seller. Here is a picture...the soda ash on top sprayed with alcohol did OK but still not good enough for me....so I still shaved them.

Here is a picture of them this morning...prior to shave.

Hello Sud-Buddies! I hope you all are recovering from TG and not working too hard!

You ladies talking about Dirt Soap are cracking me up! I know it serves a great purpose, but it just sounds. . . wrong!

Looks like mirecipes has found some great options! Can't wait to hear a report on how that turns out and whether the hunting folks like it.

chiknwhisperer - Sorry it didn't work out to take advantage of the sale. Maybe next time! Did you make your next batch? My kids are also impressed that I make soap, especially my 13 year old. He was so excited about it that he told one of his friends at school. Fortunately I got to her before she mentioned anything to her mom because I'm giving her some for her bday.

It has been over 7 hours since you last reported about your order. So, how many times have you checked on it since?

smom1976 - What a lot of work to get to trace! You're going to build some strong muscles doing this.

How did they turn out? Did you try your beet bar? Can't wait to see pix of it! On your tongue test question, I assume that burning is bad - as if the lye was still in an active lye state and that saponification isn't complete. Is that correct? But, perhaps I drink too much coffee and eat too many spicy things because I'm not feeling a burn at all when I

even the most recently made soaps.

Ninja - I hadn't checked your blog in a while either. I'm so sorry to hear that it has been a bit of a rough road for you.

cheeptrick - You have had a rough week! I'm glad the buck missed your car. Wow! That soap looks scary! Did you ever figure out what caused the lye to end up in pockets like that? TSC says too much lye or slow/inconsistent stirring but it is interesting how it is concentrated at the edges. I wonder if perhaps something else in the insulation period affected it???? I'm glad you were able to save it and look forward to seeing the finished pictures. Love the confetti soap! I'll have to try that one of these times. In fact, I was thinking that a soap with fun additives might be nice for Valentine's Day. I've seen some cute ones with curly-Q's and with hearts and other fun things. The other two soaps look great as well! Very cute! Best of all, the photo of your two girls with the turkey!

The look on their faces is so precious!!!

Still haven't done any soaping myself. I need to plan out the Valentine's Day soaps and order more scents. Any ideas welcome!

Okay every time I get on the computer or near it I check lol. So I think its been 6 or 7 times in the last 7 hours lol.
I did go to JoANN fabrics today. I don't know what I was thinking about when I decided to go out today. Actually I do what I was thinking about lol. SOAP. I bought a bunch of molds and some FOs and a couple EOs. I stood in line for a half hour with all four kids

haha how funny I went out today to hobby lobby and bought two soap molds too..

and my ornaments for my exchange..

oh and the beet juice DID NOT work.. it turned a mustard yellow and then started smelling like pee... this was just after mixing it with the lye.. so I dumped it down the drain.. (I picked the slowest drain in the house) and have a new lye/plain water mix comming down in temp right now.. I kept out 1 oz of the 4 oz of liquid and I will put in 1 oz of beet juice at trace..

we will see...

I really need to make my big molds and soon. I want to do BIG batches instead of these little ones. Oh and that one was with apple juice.
Oh and please don't pay any attention to my basement. It needs cleaned I know. And all the towls on top of my deep frezzer were used to insulate the mold. I'm tring to work with what space I have at the moment so my deep frezzer worked as table last night.

I just checked UPS for my stuff and a big red sentence came up saying that not all tracking info is available at this time

Did I go over my limit of checking in one day?! They are trying to teach me patience, I know they are. Well it won't work muwhaha
I was never accused of being patient

Hey guess what I get for Christmas. A Kitchenaid! DH works for U.S. Steel and found out he can get a discount through work for their products

20 min. thats less then last night lol. Oh that reminds me. I went out and bought a new stick blender today. It is a Hamilton Beach one that comes in its own case with three diferent attachments
gig.gif

It was $20. I figured what the heck its not like my last one that I never used until last month when I started soaping lol. I dragged that one down from the attic

One more thing. When your saps are all done, what do you wrap them in to store them?
