Hello Sud-Buddies! I hope you all are recovering from TG and not working too hard!
You ladies talking about Dirt Soap are cracking me up! I know it serves a great purpose, but it just sounds. . . wrong!
Looks like
mirecipes has found some great options! Can't wait to hear a report on how that turns out and whether the hunting folks like it.
chiknwhisperer - Sorry it didn't work out to take advantage of the sale. Maybe next time! Did you make your next batch? My kids are also impressed that I make soap, especially my 13 year old. He was so excited about it that he told one of his friends at school. Fortunately I got to her before she mentioned anything to her mom because I'm giving her some for her bday.
It has been over 7 hours since you last reported about your order. So, how many times have you checked on it since?
smom1976 - What a lot of work to get to trace! You're going to build some strong muscles doing this.
How did they turn out? Did you try your beet bar? Can't wait to see pix of it! On your tongue test question, I assume that burning is bad - as if the lye was still in an active lye state and that saponification isn't complete. Is that correct? But, perhaps I drink too much coffee and eat too many spicy things because I'm not feeling a burn at all when I
even the most recently made soaps.
Ninja - I hadn't checked your blog in a while either. I'm so sorry to hear that it has been a bit of a rough road for you.
cheeptrick - You have had a rough week! I'm glad the buck missed your car. Wow! That soap looks scary! Did you ever figure out what caused the lye to end up in pockets like that?
TSC says too much lye or slow/inconsistent stirring but it is interesting how it is concentrated at the edges. I wonder if perhaps something else in the insulation period affected it???? I'm glad you were able to save it and look forward to seeing the finished pictures. Love the confetti soap! I'll have to try that one of these times. In fact, I was thinking that a soap with fun additives might be nice for Valentine's Day. I've seen some cute ones with curly-Q's and with hearts and other fun things. The other two soaps look great as well! Very cute! Best of all, the photo of your two girls with the turkey!
The look on their faces is so precious!!!
Still haven't done any soaping myself. I need to plan out the Valentine's Day soaps and order more scents. Any ideas welcome!
