Should I have said I'd go trolling for the Man Bar, instead?

I'll never look at soap the same way again!

ROTFLMBO!!!! Just wait until until you see my first batches, soap will be seen in alot of new lights!!! lol!!! What a "bubbly" bunch you are!! I hope to have all stuff gathered up next weekend, lye included and maybe get to work on that first batch! You need some comic relief anyway so my learning will provide you that for awhile..well, hopefully for a while, who knows I could be horribly soap challenged forever, lol!!! Andnow that you have me thinking about soap pottery dishes...hmmm...maybe chicken or egg shaped......lol!

I want a chicken one! lol I'll be the first in line for it. Asked DH last night if I could do a chicken theme in the kitchen when we EVENTUALLY redo it. He just kept saying " a what? " I didn't catch very quick lol and he was being sarcastic about it. Then I layed down the law and said " It's my kitchen and I'll do it anyway " LOL I should extend it out further into the yard so I can make my soap in there as well.

Oooooo! I want a chicken one, too! I have chickens in the bathroom AND chickens in the kitchen. For that matter, I even have chickens in the living room. Sadly, my friends help feed my habits, even though they're not chicken people.

Glad to have you with us, Scrambled. A little humor is a good thing.

MullersLaneFarm - Next time I'm in Illinois visiting family and working on my genealogy, I'd love to stop by your farm if you're doing tours that day. It's only a 28 mile drive from where my family homesteaded, straight up the 40. It might give me an idea of how they lived. After reading census records, court records, histories, and land plats, it'd be fun to see that history in action. Cool!

I did mapquest today to see how far away I am from the farm lol. I'm exactly three hours away lol I'm gonna have to make my way over there. The kids would love it espeacially my 9 year old. We went to a dairy cow place last summer and he feel in love with it! A born farm hand lol.

I can't wait till monday when the kids go to school. I'm gonna try to fitin as many batches of soap as I can

I want to make an orange scented one, a pink melon, and eucalyptus (sp?) And I want to try making diffrent colors. So far I haven't tried that part at all. I've been kinda nervous about it. I've been reading all kinds of diffrent stuff about coloring soaps and I'm just gonna have to jump in and try.

Another question from me . . . .

Today at church, I picked a bunch of roses from the bushes with the plan of using them somehow in the rose soap we're going to make soon. I know we'd have to dry them first. However, I know they turn dark in the saponification process. Is there any way to use these creatively without them looking ugly?

There will a whole slough of us at MullersLaneFarm

Hey! I hadn't thought about that! Or, perhaps I could do a combo, rosewater and some crushed roses. I suppose dark flecks wouldn't look as bad as bigger dark blotches.

When I made my Rosemary and Lavender soap, I only had the Lavender Fragrance. So, I raided the church garden for rosemary and steeped some in the Olive Oil. It took on a lovely scent of rosemary. But, then I went one step further and added some rosemary to the lye water. While the scent is fine, it turned the water a light brownish color. Despite that and even though there is no added rosemary fragrance, it did take on the scent of the rosemary in the final soap which the guys LOVE! It sort of added a manly side to the more feminine lavender. That's what hubby wants me to do with the shaving soap - He liked it THAT much.

In fact, if we do the soap swap, the Rosemary & Lavender is the soap I hope to send out.

Would Rosewater turn brown from the lye?
