Soap Makers Help!

Leave it to you to see that!!!

It's been a while since I used the 30-bar mold. I pushed the top dividers in up-side-down into the soap, and then realized I put in the wrong dividers first!!! Had to take them out and put the other dividers in.

First time that has happened since I started using these molds 7 years ago!!!

Sheesh, I didn't think anyone would notice that!!!

I forget the excact amount but I think it was under $80. Haven't ordered yet till keeping my fingers crossed that I will sell $30 worth soon and then I can order. I told DH noone is getting my fifty bucks I just got unless it is life or death lol. That is DEFINITLY going towards that mold lol

MLF - You are a soaping FIEND! They look (and sound!) great!

Yay chiknwhisperer!!!! Congratulations on your sale. I can't wait to hear of the day you get your new mold!

We wrapped up the rose soap before church and sold over $50 worth after the service. More will be sold tomorrow after the morning services - all to benefit the cooperative garden to feed the poor.

Tomorrow I'm leading a training session for some of the garden folks. We will be making lemon verbena with poppy seeds, which completely sold out before Christmas. I'm hoping for a few more soapers to help keep the supply up. The excitement is amazing at church for these soaps. People are commenting on how much they're enjoying using them and giving them to others.

Don't forget, Teacher Appreciation comes up in the Spring!

I have got to get a batch going for the swap~guess I will do that Monday after I see the neurologist or maybe before to help me with my nerves.
Don~the soapmakers companion is one that was recomended towards the beginning of this thread. It is good but I learned a lot more on the net.

Cyndi, those soaps look beautiful! I love all the colors. You talked about having a master batch of oils. How exactly do you do your master batch? What about your soild oils like palm or coconut, do you have to heat the master batch each time and mix it? I'd be really interested in knowing how you do this. I have my three hard oild (cocout, palm and shea) premeasured and stored in ziplock baggies in the fridge all ready for the next time I soap. Measuring the hard oils seems to be what takes the most time.

chiknwhisperer, I'm so excited for you. Congrats on the sale! I hope you make your 30$ soon. What made you decide on a Kelsie mold? How are going to do your lables? That's so cool that your friends and family are supporting you in this.

Backyard Buddies, what you are doing with your community garden is just so awesome. I hope you pass the addiction. er hobby, on to others to help support your garden.

Don, I liked the soap makers companion for just starting out. I checked it out from the library. I think it is a great starting off point. Kathy Miller's site is a book in of its self. So much info there. I love the idea of making your own book.

I really hope everyone participates in the swap. I'm really looking forward to learning from everyone!

Thanks Morgaine, I read about that mold in one of MLF's posts and checked it out. I don't remember hat site it was on but there is a person that explains with words and pictures lol about how to make them with your word program. I think it is in one of the past posts but I'm not sure what page it is on. I'm not great at the labels or anything but eventually I would like to order labels from MMS. As far as the mold goes, I can't cut a straight line to save my life. I looked a them and figured that would really help me not to have scraps from cutting. Plus I have some milky way molds that a lot of people like so I figured I could really get working with that 18 bar mold and in the mean time us my other molds as well.

Vanilla Lavender (45 bars)

You can tell which bars were at the side of the mold. The layer is clear. The lavender did pull down with the dividers, but after a few uses, the layer should be pretty clear again.

I think I should have used more lavender UM to make a brighter purple.

I love using Shrink Wrap Bands from MMS with my soaps from the Kelsei molds. Depending how deep you make your soaps, the regular bands work well. I usually stock both the regular sized bands and the "Dan's Bands".
