I think the color is great, a natural purple hue. Where did you get alkanet root? I have some beet powder, but that went brown till I added some pink clay.

I made Lime Margarita Salt bars today. They were still half way gelled when I just checked on them. I am going to use those for the swap because my neighboor just bought 5 of the bars I was going to use for the swap, so I wouldn't have enough for every one. They were lavender and geranium Salt bars with coconut milk. I used a bit of heavy cream in todays bars because I didn't have any coconut milk. I'll post pics later. They should be nice and white bars unless the FO discolors.

Texas Natural Supply and that is where I got the alkanet root. They get the order out almost before you finish ordering and their site explains all the eo, flowers, and powders....... I found them thanks to MLF. I will order from them from now on.

I was in Costco yesterday and found a huge jug of #1 grade grapeseed oil for under $10. I am going to use it to super fat some soaps. I have plans to make 5 different soaps today. I'll let you know how it goes.

MP- I've never used grapeseed oil, do you think it adds anything special to the soap? What soaps are you planning? I'm going to do my breakfast bar today in the log mold and 3 batches in the milkyway tray molds for Chris' teacher who wanted 25 of those bars.

cockadoodlemom- I've looked at them, but even with shipping Columbus foods was still cheaper, but some of their other stuff looks good, I glad to hear from someone who is happy with them.

Here are my salt bars for the swap. They smell like Sprite

But I used a pretty sever water discount (27% of my oils) to help them cure faster and it really helped them trace faster(usually takes a while at 35%). I added 1 tbl heavy cream once the lye was room temp. I can't wait to see what everyone thinks of them. They gelled, set up and I had them cut within 41/2 hours after pour.

Grapeseed is one of the oils that your skin will readily absorb and won't leave you feeling greasy. I use a little just at trace to add an extra bit of luxury to the soaps.

I will be making a batch of some of my "dessert soaps" - blueberry yogurt crumble, strawberry shortcake, raspberry lemonade, cranberry tart and a lemon bar.

I purchased a 16 oz. bottle of it at Trader Joe's for $3 and a little change. I imagine your jug is a better deal, so if lasts perhaps I'll pick up some at Costco.
