Soap Makers Help!

I have a good handful of soaps that I can give her and then she won't have to buy any soap for a while. She said she was upset because now she has to order soap lol. I told her all she has to do is let me know when she needs a bar and I will send her a bar.

Where in South Dakota is she moving to? I am in South Dakota and could possibly help ease her transition...

And, yes, I agree that soap would be a wonderful parting gift!

Rebatch question:

I had a botched batch of soap that some oil/honey didn't get incorporated and you all suggested rebatching....

Well I cut it in small chunks and put it in a SS pot and into the oven it went on 250 degrees.... It wasn't really melting back together to the potato stage so I added some (in the end about 16 oz water).... after adding the water I was able to get it to pour after about 3 hrs in the oven.....

Now the soap in the molds are still a bit squishy after 5 days....

How should I have rebatched it?? Is the soap ever going to dry?? I can't take it out of the molds (I use 1/2 and 1/2 boxes) due to the squishy-ness, I'm afraid it will be toooooo soft...

Should I throw it out?? (I hate that idea)

Rebatch in the microwave...it works faster and is better. Short bursts at high power for 1-2 minute intervals...stirring in between is how I do it. I abandoned the pot/crockpot/oven method a long time ago.
NEVER throw away a botched batch...I have rebatched into cool creations...you can even WHIP with a blender after you rebatch in the microwave...add extra scents...superfat...its all good! Then mold and let cool as usual and slice...and you have FLOAP (soap that floats)!

PS your method will take longer to harden...I have rebatched at this stage as well...and microwave rebatch did well.

The soap will really float

That is so neat. I have a bunch of scraps of soap around. Do I just make a plain soap and then add the scraps? Just wondering what I could do with them.

Yep...try it out...the soap fluffs up like icing...it is very pretty. Try it out...you can rebatch EVEN good soap and whip it. 2 bars rebatched in the microwave and whipped will usually produce about 4 bars of floap!! IT is ready immediately to use as soon as it hardens. VERY fun...but folks give me the eye when they hold it in their hands because it is much lighter than the regular cp soap. I charge LESS for these bars. The kids LOVE it...I made huge balls out of it and they play with it in the tub. If you trim/bevel your soaps you can use the end pieces to whip...I then cut these pieces and embedded them into a loaf of cp soap. IT came out very neat...

YOU all have to stop this...I am trying to get my house ready for show and you all are inspiring ME to soap...and I just packed it all away for a few months till we get things sold!! OY...I'll just take it all back out again...tell the realtor to OFFER a free bar to folks who come thru!!
