hi Backyard Buddies, i had seen there was a soaper here in the OC, nice to have somebody close that i can ask about where to get supplies. that has been harder than i first thought, i'm trying to get a recipe that i can use in thailand.
MullersLaneFarm, i did see that the shea butter i get is a cream and i doubt i'll be using it when i get back to thailand. i will also be getting a digital scale when i get out of the experimenting stage. thanks for the feedback.
i'll have to post a blog about bamboo charcoal and post a link to it...i was amazed what properties it has, and many uses. i need to head down to huntington beach state park to make some more...that is the only place i can build a fire big and hot enough to make it in.
so far in the soap it has worked really well. i take the charred stalks and throw them in the blender to powder them...then sift thru a screen. it adds a sort of antifoliant (sp) texture to the soap...also makes a very hard bar, which maybe combat using the creams. using the creams also might be why it has little white bubbles or globs in it...with the charcoal bits it looks a lot like granite...which is pretty cool...a manly bar of soap. using it...it has great lather...first few times using it, it had a slight tingle to it. you need to get used to seeing the charcoal coming off in the rinse water, if you didn't clean the sink or tub often it would build up a dark ring. i've used it a few months now and think my thining bald spot is filling in...lol
