Soap Makers Help!

Here is the sandalwood Ylang. The green started out really pretty and dark and has faded a lot. Smells good though, the scent is coming back after fading a lot when I first cut it.

I just took a better picture of the lemongrass rose, it's side by side with my whitest bar.

If this is chickenpox or something it is such a mild form of it. He really looks and acts like nothing is wrong with him. The rash is fading and no itching or blisters.

Morgaine,
Brambleberry says this about their watermelon scent fragrance oil:

Watermelon: This scent smells like that yummy hard candy that all the kids love. It's a very juicy, leap-out-at-you sensation. It's a perfect antidote for those who have smelled one too many musky fragrances. Really a popular scent with children of all ages.

I have use Chromium Green to color my green soaps. Or, didn't you use something else for the green color successfully in one of your previous soaps?

Black Iron Oxide aught to do for the black.

Why don't you try to displace your green (in your regular rectangular mold) with a pvc pipe. That way at least the red/pink area will be rounded.

hi Backyard Buddies, i had seen there was a soaper here in the OC, nice to have somebody close that i can ask about where to get supplies. that has been harder than i first thought, i'm trying to get a recipe that i can use in thailand.

MullersLaneFarm, i did see that the shea butter i get is a cream and i doubt i'll be using it when i get back to thailand. i will also be getting a digital scale when i get out of the experimenting stage. thanks for the feedback.

i'll have to post a blog about bamboo charcoal and post a link to it...i was amazed what properties it has, and many uses. i need to head down to huntington beach state park to make some more...that is the only place i can build a fire big and hot enough to make it in.

so far in the soap it has worked really well. i take the charred stalks and throw them in the blender to powder them...then sift thru a screen. it adds a sort of antifoliant (sp) texture to the soap...also makes a very hard bar, which maybe combat using the creams. using the creams also might be why it has little white bubbles or globs in it...with the charcoal bits it looks a lot like granite...which is pretty cool...a manly bar of soap. using it...it has great lather...first few times using it, it had a slight tingle to it. you need to get used to seeing the charcoal coming off in the rinse water, if you didn't clean the sink or tub often it would build up a dark ring. i've used it a few months now and think my thining bald spot is filling in...lol

I've had really good long term results with liquid chlorophyll for green. And I have activated charcole for black, it was the red I didn't think I could get naturally.
Where did ou get the chromium green? I'm assuming it was a powder. Have you ever used some of the liquid colorants?

I'm looking around for a watermelon scent that's not too candy like, though it looks like I won't have too much luck.

CW, I 'm wondering if it was some kind of allergeric reaction?

Morgaine, I got the chromium green from Texas Natural Supply in Austin. They are super fast. If I order before noon (and ask them to)they usually send it out that day and it arrives the following day by UPS.

I have never used any of the liquid colorants.

OK, Do you happen to have a picture? I'd like to compare it to the green ones I have done, which seem a little too light for what I want.

Morgaine, try www.newdirectionsaromatics.com I shop them from their Canadian site and I have the watermelon fo and it smells like watermelon. Also I got a natural red colour from them called Strawberry Red. I haven't used it yet (my lye should be here tomorrow or Friday) but I can't wait to try it for my Strawberry Vanilla Swirl.
