Soap Makers Help!

Green tea is supposed to be an anti-oxident, but the last batches of soap made with green tea have set up quickly and are really firm. They also seem to dry out in the curing process without any sweating. The fragrance seems to stick around better.

I don't think it looks bad at all! But I understand when things don't turn out like you had them planned in you head. I bet is smells great though!

I've never had any of my soaps sweat during curing, do yours normally? I wonder what in the tea made them set up faster? Interesting about the scent too.

CW, Is your farmers market this weekend or next? I'm so excited for you!

Friday is Art Step/First Friday in downtown Bryan and the farmers market is paticipating. I'm excited and think we'll do really well. This will be the first time I've been to a first friday there. What it is is a lot of the shops stay up late, and there is live music, art expos and carriage rides and bunch of other stuff. DH is even taking off early from work to go with me

I'm rebatching scraps today into buttermilk & grits. I had two people ask if I had any more yesterday so I thought I better make more. And I need to do more almond & oatmeal, I sold 10 out of 17 bars yesterday. I have one batch of it that will be ready in 2 weeks but the almond really moves well so I need to keep up with that one.

The only ones I had sweat were the all veggie oils and some of the recipes with all aloe vera juice. Since the green tea was an experiment, I wasn't sure what to expect.
The first batch I ever made with all green tea (no leaves) set up so quick and so hard I actually had to cut it on the band saw!!! trying to cut it by hand within four hours of pouring actually splintered the bars as they were cut. Those rebatched beautifully.
Here's a picture of it....the green swirl. That green is ground up chloraphyl algae.

The only bars that sweated of mine were the salt bars when they got left downstairs (no a/c in the middle of texas summer) but you know those had aloe juice in them too. I wonder now if it was the aloe and not just the salt. Hmm. Oh my bars are all veggie too.

I haven't tried using tea yet, I had read that it turned brown, but now you have my curiosity peaked. Do you gell your soaps?

Pretty soaps BTW. Love the green swirl.

Sounds like a good spot to me. I have noticed that the scent from the soaps really travels out and down the isle and I have had people actually turn around and come back after catching a whiff.

In dark (green or amber) glass in a cool, dark place.

yes, the price break is definitely worth it.

I'll have soap sweat on me during the summer ... then again it's pretty humid here and we don't have an AC
