Soap Makers Help!

Lurky, those are beautiful soaps! brandy does make some great soap! I've been using the chamomile one she sent me and I have been enjoying it so much! Love the soft soothing scent.

Just a word of caution though Lurky, you might want to put some parchment down between your soaps and the metal. it can cause Dreaded Orange Spots on your soaps.

Can I just put the tallow in a crock pot and get the tallow that way? I have never rendered before.

Yes, you can render tallow in the crock pot. What you will be putting in the crock pot is suet. What renders out is tallow.

Cutting your suet into small chunks or grinding them into smaller pieces will allow more tallow to be rendered out. You will have to strain the tallow before using.

Here is a pictorial on rendering tallow.

Is the tallow made from beef? I use lard for my soap but that tallow looks real nice and white. And the canning jars are a great idea. I have a bunch but I don't have any lids so I'll have to go get some.

Hey....I LOVE the end pieces...they are my favorite because I get to KEEP them!!
