How is everyone doing right before Christmas? I had my best day at the market Saturday so far , and since it had been two weeks since I was last there, everyone was mobbing my table asking where I was because they were counting on me for Christmas gifts, lol. I still find it odd sometimes that people actually like my soap and want to buy it, anyone else feel that way?

I found my other bolt, of course after I had already bought a new one. It had gotten wedged in a box I keep my extra lotion containers. We fixed the string on my log splitter that I busted. I went a head and ordered more just because I would of course break one when I needed it the most.

I'm doing the last of my restocks today, then I'll get to play a bit. I think I'm finally ready to try liquid soaps. Anyone want to join me in this adventure?

Sherwood Forest Renaissance faire is just around the corner and I am getting so nervous. After the new year I'll order my tent and start hunting for a couldron.

Has anyone here ever used real Amber before? I wanted to order some and try it for some perfume and wondered how it did in soap.

Those in the last swap, how did you like the lotions? I'm thinking of changing suppliers so I can get some cheaper bulk lotions and sell them in bigger bottles, but my customers really seem to like this one. Did you like it?

Has anyone here experience making soap on a rope, or that soap where you hide a dollar or other bill inside in a little tube?

Suggestions on how to do this would be great!

I think, but I'm not sure that soap on a rope is made with a special 3D mold. But I see no reason why you couldn't put the rope in when the soap is thick enough that it holds it. I haven't made it though, so you might wait and see if someone else chimes in that has.

As far as the dollar bill thing, I would suggest that you maybe use melt and pour soap. teach soap.com has some info on embedding M&P soap.

So I made some lotion bars the other day:
1 part bees wax
1 part cocoa butter
1 part coconut oil

and it melts so much faster than I really like, would using shea butter make it firmer? I wasn't such a fan of the cocoa butter, makes me hungry using it... smells like chocolate.

cocoa butter is harder than shea butter. Up the beeswax or lower the coconut oil

Ditto what Cyndi said. up the beeswax or add less oil. You could using mango or kokum butter though. I believe that both of those are harder than shea.

I am about to make my second batch of soap tomorrow and I am still keeping it small- about 1 pound batches. I want to scent this batch and I ordered the 1 ounce sample pack from Southern Scents- how much would I add to a 1 pound batch to give it a nice, not overwhelming smell? I assume the whole ounce would be too much for a small batch? And, I add it at trace, right? So it doesn't cook?

It's got to have landed in a position you would not normally expect...like vertical instead of horizontal....or find someone with a metal detector.
Found a ring that way..I had stripped some peppr plants in the garden and lost my ring. A friend with a metal detector found the ring on a small branch of a jalepeno plant.
