Soap Makers Help!

Lemongrass eo smells the same in soap as it OOB (out of the bottle) just not quite as strong. It is one of my best sellers. Where did you yours from? It does kinda of pledge like note it sometimes. The stuff I got from New Directions had it more than the stuff I get from EOU.

I use lemongrass eo at .5oz/ppo and it is strong! If you want a lighter scent, maybe try .4oz/ppo. You may also want to look at May Chang/Litsea eo. It is very similar to lemongrass but I find it softer with a touch of floral. I think it blends better too than lemongrass.

And remeber that both of these eo's will make your soap yellow.

I got it from Bramble Berry & the more I smell it the better I like it. Does the lavender smell the same in soap as OOB?? I don't have a problem with yellow soap, too bad I don't have something to make a darker yellow swirl, wouldn't that be pretty?

Great question! I'm planning on making the lemon grass recipe from miller soap site. I'm going to cut it up and do a white batch over it. Well, off-white (goats milk).

I didn't like the scent from the bottle either.

I must be weird cause I love Lemongrass! And it is one of my top 3 sellers! Sometimes I can't keep it in stock. You might like may chang better.

I just went upstairs and smelled the lemon grass EO. It smelled better than I remembered. Perhaps because it has been opened to breath a few times? My initial thought was that it was mediciney. I didn't get that now.

So I read that curing soap where there is a breeze effects the lather of the finished bar???? Is this true to your knowledge? I keep the ceiling fan on 24/7 in my soap room because it would get hot up there if not. Am I effecting the quality of my bars?

Well as far as allergies to most soaps are you refurring to "soaps" from the store? Bars of soap and body wash from the store are acutally deturgants. That being said my SIL is very sensitive to the store bought "soaps" and has no problems with CP soaps. I do use goat milk but have made some with water instead of the milk and she liked both, the milk is just more nurishing to the skin.

My favorite soap so far is my Lemongrass too. I put poppyseed in it and will cut back on how much I use next time, if at all. The poppyseed gives a nice color contrast but because of how scratchy it is I can't use it all the time. Although I will say we painted the new poultry coop, of corse getting it all over me too, and the poppy seed got the paint right off me with about 2-4 sweeps accross my skin! My friend's husband also swears it's better than the Orange scrub stuff at getting the grease/grime off his hands and arms from working on his motorcycle and such.

My lavender eo is a little less herby in the than oob. Don't know about lavender fo.

I put poppy seeds in my lemongrass too

Does really well at the kitchen sink cause it helps remove the food odors.

I think because milk has extra fat in it, that it bumps the superfat up and that is why it seems more gentle. More so if you usually use a 5% superfat. The proteins and amino acid add to the soap as well.
