Soap Makers Help!

Ok, I made some Lemon EO scented soap this weekend; and while it smells refreshing the scent is very faint. Question for those of you that use Lemon, do you layer it with something else to get it more aromatic or just double up on the EO? Recommendations? I'm making this for my dad and he likes his soaps SCENTED.

I make Lemmongrass, it is strong & holds the smell. The batch I made was in Aug or Sept of last year. I will wait to see what the more experience soapers think.

I am awaiting my EO & my Lye. I get mine at the Tractor Supply, they had told me that if it ever wasn't on the shelf to ask for it. They were completely out & I have to wait till Friday! I plan to make the following.

Honey Almond
unscented
Kumquat
?????? (not sure if it will be orange or Lemongrass)

Most citrus eo's need an anchor like patchouli for them to hold the scent. Most likely the scent will be gone by the end of cure. If you search "anchor" on any of the soap foums, I am sure there will be threads that bring it up. I have heard of people using orange peel and corn starch with mixed results and it seems like clay has been mentioned too. I use patchouli and have had good luck with it. I also use the 5 fold lemon or orange eo and that helps a lot too.

You posted that you mix orange with lavender (or some other scent I have on hand), what else have you used that will anchor it?

I don't have a problem with lemongrass but did buy some orange that I would like to anchor if it is needed. Sorry I wasn't very clear with my question.

Interesting! Here is the list of what I have on hand, if you see any combination that might be good tell me.....I'm considering mixing but not sure I trust myself.

Kumquat
Pumkin spice
Apple Pie
Lavender
Orange
lemongrass

1oz sample: Toasted Rice

Can i use Vegtable oil in place of olive oil (pomace) in a cold press soap recipe?

Morgain-this would be for your 4lb standard recipe that you posted on this topic.

Thanks!
Kelly
