Soap Makers Help!

I made unscented, Kumquat & citrus. I like the liquid laundry soap, I add scent to it also. I really like it so far, I don't have as much scent after they are washed as I would like but have to play with it to figure out if I am just not putting enough in or what.

Today was the first time that I was able to find fels soap & found Zote the other day. This is a first in my small town. I will use one of those in my next batch.

My favorite scents are citrus. I love lemon the best. Then the oranges. I think that is going to be my next soap. I have a few people who want unscented, so I will probably make a batch of this also. Hopefully next week, although I've been saying that for about a month!!

If you are going to use Lemon or Orange eo then you need an anchor like patchouli or the scent will fade. 1oz patchouli in a 4 pound batch is enough to anchor but not smell (although orange and patch are a great combo!)

MsDeb, salt bars are great, but careful with people with sensitive skin. And surprisingly they are not all that scratchy. I like them and enjoy them but don't make then to sell anymore because of the sweating issue. I believe the recipe was in the Brambleberry Newletter.

As for the scent staying on your skin, some linger more than others. Vanilla based ones seem to last a little longer than say citrus ones. But remeber soap is a wash off product, it is not going to last like a perfume.

Thanks for the info Morgaine! I do remember that now that you mentioned it! I don't have any so I will order some today.
I understand about the soap not being a perfume, but I thought I should be able to smell it a little on myself, but like Sooner said, DH can.

And that is all that matters!!
I will check out Brambleberry for their newsletter.

My DS, my cousin & a close friend, all males like it best during hunting season it is all they will use. Along with the same to wash clothes.

Hi! I don't know how y'all find time to soap in the summer.
I've never heard anyone mention this scent, but I got Bayberry from Southerngardenscents and it is my FAVORITE new smell. I made Bayberry scented GM soap and love it. Made Bayberry / Lemongrass scented GM soap and loved it, too.
The thing is I like it so much, I use it for laundry sheets and as air freshener. Wow, the smell just makes a room feel cooler and green .
I don't tend to like non-food items to smell like food, so many of the eo's and fo's are off my list. This one is a keeper.

We are running in the 100 to 107 degrees so there is a point when you can't stand to be outside so that is when I soap. We are hitting records for the number of days we have been above 100. I'm afraid we still have the month of August to go.

I was really curious to see how the soap would trace or act differently but it was pretty much the same.

How do you make laundry sheets if you don't mind my asking???
