Soaping Recipe Swap

I have been following the forums for a couple hundred pages now and have several books, tons of recipes and took a soaping class. Just looking for suggestions specific to the 2 pounds of soap aspect of it. If someone has a tried and true 2 pounds recipe there is no sense trying to reinvent the wheel!

My recipe may not be what you are looking for in a soap. You need to learn about the different oils and how they react to each and then make the soap YOU would like. Here is what I did.

I followed the recipe in the Soap Makers Companion, it's a nice basic recipe. Then I started reading about all the different oils what they contribute to the soap. I found that I prefer almond to avocado because to me it moremoisturizing and and made a creamier lather. I like palm in my soap, but Cyndi doesn't like a high amount of palmtic acid in her. You need to find what you want in a soap. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Castile. Some people love them and that's all they make.
Then you play around with an online soap calculator like soapcalc which will help you make your recipe by letting you see what characteristics your soap will have.
Then I made the soap and once I had my recipe down the way I wanted, then I was ready to sell.

Personally, I'm not going to give you my recipe that I worked and tweaked for 6 something months and that I am selling just so you can go sell it too. I will share my opinions on oils and any recipes you have tried if you would like to share them. But I won't just turn over my recipe. You wouldn't go up to a baker and ask them for their cake recipe so you can start your own bakery would you?

I hope you take our advice to heart and don't just get all mad and disregard it. If you are in this for a quick buck, you may find out the hard way that it's not a get rich quick. I invested about $1000 altogether before my company was able to support it's self.

I'm still working on getting my recipe down that I really like. I keep adding a little of this or a little of that. Plus with limited monwy its hard for me to get the oils that I want to try. I am using a couple basic recipes and I make Castle because the people around here seem to really like it. But it is a work in progress.
