socializing cockerels, to pet or not to pet?

Thanks for asking this question. I was sent 4 roos as packing peanuts with my ducklings. 3 seem nice so far, but there is one that is always puffing up and pecking at me when I reach in the brooder. I bonk him on the head with my finger, but he still continues to do it. I was hoping to be able to keep 1-2 for my 12 laying hens and 12 new chicks.

I've read some great comments on here so I thought I would throw in my 2 cents. I try to think of it from an animals point of view. I know I can dominate the rooster but I don't want to keep doing that everyday, so I make sure my Roos know I can get them good treats to give their girls. I give them treats several times a week (grapes, tomatoes, cantaloupe) and I always make sure Harry the Roo gets the first treat which he gladly gives to his ladies

So, now my Roo wont attack what he considers a great source of food and a way of keeping his girls happy. I realize some roosters are just plain mean, and they need to go, but I have helped a couple of other people with this method. I make sure that the rooster knows people are a source of food, not competition.
