Soft Eggs?!

One of our hens is currently laying soft shelled eggs. I have grit and oyster shell in their coop for her and have the laying feed. Any other suggestions?? We feed her table scraps so she does get some extra protein there. Thanks for your help!

Yes, is she eating it? If not you can try grinding up egg shells in a Vitamix and sprinkling that on her food. What layer feed is she getting?

I got soft shelled eggs from a few of my girls when they first started laying. Lasted a half a week, and then they were normal.

New layers will often have abnormalities like soft, shell-less, double yolked or odd shaped eggs.

Twice now I've found soft eggs on the poop deck. The egg was similar to a balloon. My Leghorns have been giving me 2 eggs each and a Bantam 1 small egg almost everyday.
They have oyster shell free choice and flock raiser.

Cut out the nutrition depleting table scraps and treats. Then feed a well regarded and complete laying ration. After 6 weeks if the problem is still present, cull her.
