Hi guys!

I haven't really been active here but I am at a loss. I have a hen, her name is Beaky she is a black sex link and turns 2 in a few months. Recently, she has been laying soft egg shells so I started her on a week of calcium and vitamin D3, for some reason that didnt stop the problem. She is still laying soft shelled eggs and I even have Nutri-Drench in their water. Anything else I can do to stop this? Thanks!

Hi:frow It's good to see you!

It sounds like you are doing what you can. Is she starting to molt?

I'd give her 300mg Calcium Citrate+D3 for another couple of days, see that she's eating her feed and drinking well.

It can be hard to know why some may have soft shelled eggs and supplementation doesn't seem to help. Could be she's starting to have some reproductive problems or the shell gland is not functioning well - which unfortunately I don't know of any way to fix these.

Has she been dewormed? You can deworm and see if that makes any difference.
