400 mg is pretty standard, the petites are just made smaller to make them easier to swallow. Once a day is probably good for egg shell quality. See if you have an improvement after 7 -10 days.

Can you tell me what dosage you use. I purchased calcium petites and they are 400mg and contain 4.3mg of vitamin D3. How many days would I give this. I have one that has laid 2 soft shell eggs in a rom. One we had to remove the long soft shell hanging from her vent.

I had to do this too and it was stressful! I recently started giving my girls Dumor max layer something or other pellets and mixed in a medium sized bag of purina game bird 30% protein crumbles. I feed them a mash with it everyday with two cups feed 3/4 c water and let it soak up into a oatmeal consistently. I have feeders with dry mixture too. Since I started this new feed concoction I haven’t had any funky eggs Oh and no treats for a while so they only eat the feed mix. I have one hen who has glitchy eggs every once in awhile but at least they’re not super soft anymore.
