One of my pullets laid a soft shelled egg yesterday an I thought I'd just show anyone who's never seen one...I'd never seen one either.
They've just been laying for about a month now so I'm chalking it up to a new layer glitch in the system. They have plenty of calcium available, are not stressed, and nobody looks sick.

It was leathery feeling and when I opened it up it had 2 yolks and little to no white. The white in the opened up picture is the soft shell.

I wish this was a better picture but I took it and failed to look at it before I threw away the egg.

They have oyster shell available all the time, but if this is from the one I think it's from, she's been laying an egg every day for 3 weeks so maybe she's low. She did not lay one today. All my pullets are bantams, EEs and a cochin. I think it's the cochin. How much calcium for a bantam?
I had been giving them scrambled egg every so often but haven't in a while. I'll give some again. They love it.
