We're going to have to agree to disagree on this. There is a fundamental lack of any kind of supporting science here, so all of these articles suggesting anything are simply speculative and based on common sense. You know your pets. If you feel you need to keep an eye on them for some reason, then do so. If not, enjoy the eclipse.
Probably the absolute best response. Thats what concerns me....i plan on leaving early monday morning and not coming home until Tuesday. It seems common sense that if it gets dark at 3pm they are gonna be stressed. I kinda wanna stay home just to witness their behavior. I do wish I had an indoor place for them with all the normal stuff that makes them thrive. Gonna try not to get too weird about it, but, i cant help it 🤷‍♀️🐓❤️

I agree. I would expect to see my chickens start their lazy wander to the coop as they do each day as soon as the shadows hit the lawn.
Yea, thats what I'm assuming too. So maybe they will all head to the roost and when it gets light again, in an hour or 2, they will come back out into run like its a new day?! Lol. My hens Iq's are not too high so I hope they dont get all their feathers ruffled 😖😣🐓❤️

Aart, what do you think about the chooks regarding the eclipse? I'm driving to upstate NY, so i wont be home with the chickens when eclipse happens and now having second thoughts about leaving them.
I wouldn't worry about it one bit. They might go to roost but will get back out, dimmer lighting only lasts maybe a couple hours.
