Using solar power to collect heat is cheap and very effective, so much more
so than making electricity from it. If every house had one panel just to
make hot water we would save billions a year in fuel costs, reduce
pollution, reduce demand for foreign oil, increase the available supply
of natural gas(which we should be fueling our cars with), and more.
Remember we have two opposing forces at work here. One is Opec
and the oil lobby and the other is the environmental movement which
promotes misinformation about alternate energies.
Thermal solar, natural gas, man made gas, wind power, and nuclear
plants together can solve 90% of the US's energy problems. Clean coal is
ok too but does produce CO2 so if you buy into global warming it's
not that great.
