Solar Power question... Help appreciated...

Looking to hook up a light bulb for the coming fall/winter months for heat and light. Has anyone successfully been able to do this? If so... Can I have some tips??

I use the solar-powered Christmas lights for light, but a heat lamp (or normal bulb) would take way more power...which I know nothing about.

How do you take care of your water bowls in the winter? How do you keep them from freezing?
