Solar powered chicks

I got chicks this morning. Their box is next to a sunny window, and when the sun comes out they all abandon the heater to fight over who gets the sun.

I just thought it was entertaining.

I agree, they're awfully cute!

But piling like that's kinda telling & also wonder if the need a little extra heat under the heater? Maybe still warming up from shipping.

Agree. Sun heat is very different from a heater. Right now they're happily sleeping under the heater after their playtime. (I gave them a piece of an egg and they all took off after the one who got it.) Once the sun was gone they started using the heater again.
