I drill a large hole with a hole saw the size of cheap dollar tree landscape lights. I shove it into the hole from the outside, maybe seal with a little silicone.
Cheap and easily replaced. They sell them year round in different colors for different seasons. Not very bright, but enough. If you take the little reflector out, they work better in the coop.
