Sold as Ameraucana pullets... true breed or possibly Easter Eggers?

I was not aware of MPC buying from Meyers. As for the reviews, there are quite a few poor reviews on the Ameraucanas so it seemed real to me. Then again, who knows what’s real and what’s fake these days. It’s would certainly be easy to manipulate reviews on your own website.
Ya MPC has a partnership with Meyer's and drop ships most all their standard chicks from there.
All their fancy named mixed breeds are from their own flocks.

Ah, but they actually had the correct spelling on the sign in the store. :idunno
My tractor supply also had them labeled with the correct spelling but mine are OBVIOUSLY EEs. I watched a video on YouTube (believe it was on roots and refuge channel) where she did an interview with Murray McMurray. And it was really enlightening. He called the ameracaunas pure bred but they don't breed to ANY standard. They let all of the colors interbreed and they AIM for a colorful mix of birds. He did say they only hold back the best looking blue eggs for their next breeders. Anyway, it's worth a watch really. It kinda explains why some hatcheries claim to have purebred stock but they aren't bred to any standard so.....idk.

If it has a beard and muffs it’s more than likely true. I always get mine directly from an inspected hatchery so we know they are legit. EE is my guess they are still very pretty birds they look like they may turn out buff or dark wheaten.

I’ll have to look for that interview. It does sound quite interesting. Thanks!

I've owned quite a few EEs over the years, from several different sources, and I don't think I ever ended up with a brown or pink egg layer. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I do think the brown/pink egg layers make up a smaller percentage of EEs. Those are some cute chicks you have!

ive always wondered what the difference was between easter eggers and americaunas.... maybe what mine are is easter eggers...... i got mine from a little local store called central... they give you the chicks in nutrena boxes tho.....

If you got your chicks from a feed store for $3 they are EEs. A few hatcheries do have true Ameraucanas but those would be closer to $20.

EEs can come in any color or pattern. Most have pea combs, beards, muffs though some are clean faced. Most have green or willow legs. They can lay any color egg.

Ameraucanas only come in certain varieties. Those are black, blue, blue wheaten, brown red, buff, silver, wheaten, white and lavender. They have slate colored legs. They only lay blue eggs. The breed standard and images of all varieties can be found on the Ameraucana Breeders Club page here

I have an EE from tractor supply and she’s my sweetest hen. Lays green eggs!
