Thanks, I will research that! We like our bantam Barred Rock, so buff rocks would not be unwelcome. If they have single combs they are buff Rocks. Was the barred one supposed to be a pullet as well?
Yes, the Golden Cuckoo Marans was supposed to be a pullet.
Yes. They sent sickly chicks and 2/6 male chicks in an all-pullet order. But then they goofed up even more. I have lost track of how many mistakes they made from this one order of 6 chicks. The whole story is here.If the Barred Rock is supposed to be a pullet, they really goofed up.
Thanks so much for this information! Their legs are certainly the brightest yellow I have ever seen.X 2 - with those yellow legs they aren't orpingtons -- if they develop rose combs they are wyndottes, if single they are rocks.
What was the barred bird meant to be? I/m seeing white legs, a single comb and is there a lot of leakage on the back of it's next like it appears in the third photo?
The barred bird was meant to be a mystery fancy marans pullet. We have determined he is a Golden Cuckoo Marans roo. And lucky for him, we gave away last year's unwanted roo and the silkie roo MPC sent us (that was also supposed to be a pullet) was sickly from day one and died. So this lucky roo gets to live here, for now. Hopefully he stays safe to share the yard with my 4 y.o. daughter. If he turns mean, we will rehome him.
