Sold Salmon Faverolles by MPC, but they don't look like SFs to me

If they have single combs they are buff Rocks. Was the barred one supposed to be a pullet as well?
Thanks, I will research that! We like our bantam Barred Rock, so buff rocks would not be unwelcome.

Yes, the Golden Cuckoo Marans was supposed to be a pullet.

If the Barred Rock is supposed to be a pullet, they really goofed up.
Yes. They sent sickly chicks and 2/6 male chicks in an all-pullet order. But then they goofed up even more. I have lost track of how many mistakes they made from this one order of 6 chicks. The whole story is here.

X 2 - with those yellow legs they aren't orpingtons -- if they develop rose combs they are wyndottes, if single they are rocks.
What was the barred bird meant to be? I/m seeing white legs, a single comb and is there a lot of leakage on the back of it's next like it appears in the third photo?
Thanks so much for this information! Their legs are certainly the brightest yellow I have ever seen.

The barred bird was meant to be a mystery fancy marans pullet. We have determined he is a Golden Cuckoo Marans roo. And lucky for him, we gave away last year's unwanted roo and the silkie roo MPC sent us (that was also supposed to be a pullet) was sickly from day one and died. So this lucky roo gets to live here, for now. Hopefully he stays safe to share the yard with my 4 y.o. daughter. If he turns mean, we will rehome him.

The barred chicken is not a golden cuckoo marans. I sure hope you contacted MPC and requested a refund!
Yes, we have contacted them about both issues. They asked for a photo of the buffs, so we sent one. They replied, "That is not a rooster."

I am at my wit's end with them.

We have not been refunded for the buffs or for the rooster yet. We have been refunded for the two dead silkies. They have screwed up 5/6 birds in this order.

What do you think the roo is, if not GCM? He was supposed to be a fancy marans pullet.

Google pics of buff chanteclers - they look just like what you have. Meyers only have buff chanteclers and buff orpingtons. They don't have buff wyandottes or buff rocks. So my guess is buff chantecler.

I actually emailed Meghan at Meyer and that is her guess, too!

I am looking at the pictures of the barred bird on my phone, and cannot see the color of his legs. The barring is too clear to be a cuckoo pattern. He appears to be a cockerel, but the barring color is more like a pullet's coloring. So I am going to guess "he" is a poor quality Barred Rock. Maybe.........

all I can say is if I had received this order of chicks, I would be livid!

I am most definitely livid! Did you watch the video?

Supposedly a refund for the final 3 chicks has been issued. That makes 5/6 this year, and 2/6 last year. I will be using local breeders in the future!

Final verdict from MPC and Meyer: yellow-legged chickens are Chanteclers. I had never heard of them, but fingers crossed they work out. Supposedly they lay all winter, so...? We'll see how that goes.

Thanks, Michael. I will watch their combs. They are about 12 weeks old, so not really developed yet.

If they had a single comb, what would your guess be? Buff Orpington?

Not Buff Orpingtons with those yellow legs. I agree with Keesmom; they would be Buff Rocks with a single comb.
