*SOLVED* UPDATED PICTURES. What Plant Is This?

Well, since we don't know what size it is supposed to be, maybe you can "sniff" it occasionally until it smells ripe? At least that is what they do with the Charentais...

With almost all cucurbits that are supposed to "ripen", a good indicator is when the tendril closest to the fruit dries and turns brown.

I grow mini gourds and decorative pumpkins every year and sell them to the local garden center in the fall. Some of them look just like your plant. Please post a photo of whatever fruit it ends up producing. I also have discaded some of those pumpkins out on my compost heap and they volenteer and grow there every year by themself. What fun!

I grow both watermelon and cantaloupe. That plant has both the leaves and fruit through the various stages that is identical to many of the cantaloupes I have grown in the past.

Found this you-tube video of a woman cutting open her own "mystery melon"! Pretty interesting... No pic of plant.

Finally an update is case anyone is interested...

The plant itself is getting giant! The vines are trailing quite a distance on the ground and I had to fence them over out of the way because my chickens made a dust bath there and were pecking and destroying some of the new growth.
Here it is next to my spindly tomato:

I finally found some netting and wrapped this one that had a really puny stem.

The original one doesn't seem to be making much progress. It still has no "ripe" fragrance to it yet.

This one on the ground looks like it may even be getting bigger than the first one.

Another one has a different look about it... a wider striped pattern

I wonder if this little tiny one will mature or if I should cut it off, since it's so close to the bigger one.

(They sure look a lot like pumpkins when they're green)

I've never had any type of melon plant grow well for me.... they've all just kind of withered away and never produced any fruit. But this random volunteer is doing so great for the most part.
So exciting!

Although there has been about 3 so far that have just turned yellow. Don't know what's causing that, but I plucked them off. There's still many more little ones developing.

It sure seems like its taking a long time for these things to get ripe.
But I guess it's only been about 2 weeks since I noticed the first one...
I'm just so impatient.

The female blossoms have a small fruit as the base of the blossom. If it does not get fertilized, it turns yellow and whithers away.

No, I've never grown them before --not this variety. It looks like a type of tuscan or musk melon I usually get from the market. I think it may have been "accidentally" planted there through compost from my chickens. I always give them the seeds from melon and squash.
