*SOLVED* UPDATED PICTURES. What Plant Is This?

Not much different. Seems like they may never get ripe!
My grandma always said that muskmelon should have almost a golden glow under the webbing. Mine are still dark green.

But I'm actually waiting for the stem to crack somewhat... that's supposed to be a sign of being ready to pick.

Don't worry... I won't forget to post "the fruits" of this long labor.

Just for the heck of it, posting this vid of a gardener who has hooked her raised beds up with cattle panel trellises and has, among other things, some melons growing on them... Simple to do, and thought of your "climbing musk melon"... So thought I would post it here... It is kind of long (sorry), takes awhile to get to the part where she shows the melons she has planted, it is an instructional video but the cattle panel trellis are so simple they don't need much instruction really. But this lady does have a great garden!

Awesome video! Thanks for posting!

Wish my garden area could be like that.
Of course, if I had that much space... I'd probably just have lots more chickens
:wee

Well, the beauty of this trellis is it is actually a space saver, as it gets plant up off the ground (and away from the hungry chickens) and allows you to take advantage of vertical space! As for the "more chickens", we must seek balance in all parts of our lives... But could potentially free up more space for chickens... (confess to being chicken enabler)...:jumpy

Yes, I love the idea of using a cattle panel for a trellis!
I only have room for 2 raised garden beds and they're not quite straight across from each other because the fence behind them is at an angle. I've been trying to figure out how to make the arch from one to the other. I might be better off just making a vertical trellis wall instead... like she showed in the video.

Last year I built this A-frame trellis (with hinges so I can store it flat over the winter) to try and use that vertical space! I just grew cucumbers and snap peas under it... you can see the peas climbing over the top from the other side. My melon plant this year is growing in the same spot as the cucumbers last year.

I haven't devoted much time to gardening this year... I've been so busy with building my new chicken coop. And I finally just finished my article about it and linked in my profile!!!
Woo Hoo!!

Well, last night we finally ate our first melon!!

My daughter, Emily was super excited...

She helped scoop out the seeds... treats for the chickens later!

Couldn't wait to taste a slice... definitely got her approval (jacked-up hair and all)!

A nice yummy bowl of fruit to go with our dinner...

So it was super sweet, sweeter than regular cantaloupe... like extra sugar was added.
And it had a slight crunchiness... not under-ripe crunchy... just delicious crunchy!

There's a few more outside that look ready to pick. There's also a few more that aren't even close to being ripe --and the weather's cooling down quite a bit. It shouldn't frost until mid-October so I'll leave them on the vine for long as possible.
