Solving the case of the egg eating hen

I have read that if you use mustard they might think that it is gross. But not actually sure since I haven't had an egg eater yet. I did read about someone's hen liking the mustard though so I don't know how well this method actually works.

Do you know which bird is eating the eggs, is it just one?
Do you know if the eggs being eaten have good hard shells, or are there thin shells easily broken?
