Some chick losses

Seems to be Sevin dust may be the thing to use along with DE.....what kind would I need to get and the percentage? I am looking for htem at Menards or Lowes or Rural King or Farm and Fleet stores.

Let me know what you suggest a cure all for mites and lices at this time of the year.

Chickens can get exposed to West Nile, but they don't really get sick from it. Chickens sentinels are sometimes used to look for WNV--put them out where there are mosquitos for awhile, then test serum for the antibodies. Corvid birds (crows, blue jays, magpies ect) get sick and die, chickens are resistant. If you have WNV around, worry about horses & people, not the chickens, dogs and cats!

No dead birds this morning.

Last night I was out there for half an hour, looking at everyones body parts and perches and so forth. All I see alot of molting, pin feathers growing in, flaky dandruff on perches which I double checked to make sure they are either that or bugs. That stuff flies on everything like snow. I didnt have anything on me either.

Had a whiff of skunk last night and it was gone when I turned on the backyard light on.

I can not imagine what it is yet. No one got snotty noses or problems so far. Jeez, wished they would talk!

Thanks to all that responded! If I get another dead bird, I will take it to my aviary vet here in town and have him take a look and see.
