I know how great it is when they get to this stage--just starting to crow and lay. I really feel for your loss. Hang in there, and I wish you luck with your new birds.

sorry for your loss, but at least you know who the dogs belong to. I live wayyyyyy back in the woods and its a dropping off place for unwanted animals. we have NO animal control in our country so they just run wild. Local sheriff dept thinks this is no issue to them so they ignore you if you call, none of the shelters in surrounding countries will take any animal from our country since we have so many. I would take the $50.00 and be glad the owner takes responsibility for his pet.

someone said it best awhile ago on another thread, the neighbors dog came over, hes still there and always will be.

I'm so sorry for your loss..it must have been completely devasting for you to find this. Please ensure that the owner takes complete responsibility for replacing everything that was destroyed though I'm sure that you'll probably have to put out some of your own money to shore things up.

I live in the country and I have dogs. I DO NOT allow my dogs to run & roam. The few neighbors that I have are over a mile away and they do not allow their dogs to roam and run either. Responsible owners don't.

I am very sorry to hear about your chickens.

You should make the guy reimburse you for them. I know there is not a way to put a financial number to the things you love. Make him pay for the chicks you have ordered and add in some for the loss of the property. In most states chickens are considered property. If he doesnt want to, then file a report with the sherrif's department. You may not have witnesses but he has already told one neighbor that he is aware his dogs did the deed. If he has to fork out financially, then maybe he will consider keeping his dogs on his own property so they wont do damage to others.
