Some general duck questions

Well they did not have any Muscovies, but we did get some Cayugas (I hope they are. They were 1$ a piece at the auction. They were pretty frightened at the moment. Here's some pics!!

Any idea how old they are? There was really no information about them (breed , age, where from). One person told me their wings were pinioned already since they don't try to fly away at all. Any truth to that?

They are Mallards! I would say they are 3 weeks old.

Wow I need to find some kind of similar auction if you're getting ducklings for $1. Where I am, almost any bird babies are $3-4 or more.

Yeah it was really nice. Lots of chicks were .75c , pair of geese went for 10$ , the mallards that I now have to rehome and several others were 1$ a piece.

They also had rabbits , goats, angus, and even Guinea pigs lol

Yeah, I agree they look like mallards. But f their pinioned. Then your good!!! Haha you should keep them!

Well mallards are loud and don't lay a lot of eggs. Also I'm not sure if their wings are pinioned or not.

You would have to do that. I think it's cruel, myself, just like declawing cats. I clip my mallards' wings every so often instead.
But it sounds to me like you don't really want them, so just rehome them. Then do some research on duckling identification so you don't get fooled next time.

Yeah I am kinda bummed out. When I googled mallard ducklings they were all yellow and black, that's why I thought they were cayugas.

I only don't want them because mallards are load and do not lay a lot of eggs? Am I correct on that?

Also anyone have any experience with metzger hybrid ducks? I know they can't fly and lay tons of eggs, are they noisy?

I may just order some Muscovies after If I rehome these mallards since I know they are quiet.
