Some hatching questions

Iv only hatched a few batches of chicks in the past. I always just put the eggs stright in the bator. I hear people saying they set them what does that mean? Also I am collecting my eggs daily and waiting until I get enough to put them in the bator how long can they stay on the kitchen table at room temp before putting them in? Thanks in advance everyone!

I don't like to wait any longer than 7 days before I put them in the bator. The sooner the better really. Some people do different things. It's just what ever works for you. I keep my "eggs in waiting" in the coolest room and in a carton. I will either lean the eggs or the carton a once or twice a day until I put them in the bator.

To "set" eggs is putting them in the incubator. Thats how I understand it.
