I got these a few weeks ago and I would like some help identifying them. I think they are game birds but I do not know. Of course they could be mutts. They are supposed to be bantams but they are fairly larger then my OEGs.

They are American Gamefowl.. The cock is white with green legs so that would indicate he probably has hatch in him or is a white hatch (doesn't really make any difference though), the dark hen is a black or Brownred.. Which ever you choose but if they have more than just a little brown/red in the hackles they are brown reds in my opinion. The BBred is a hatch hen as well. Wether they are crossed or not i can't tell but they have some american gamefowl in them for sure.

They can still be bantams, either American game bantams.. Or miniature gamefowl.. Which one? I can't tell but the white cock appears to have a peacomb.. So does the "hatch" hen.. So they'd have to be closely related to the gamefowl and not bred to produce straight/single combs like the American game bantams.

They are beautiful by the way, i love whites and the white hatch's are even better i think.

Hatch's are a "breed" of American gamefowl. And in that they have strains created by people over the years, some of the most famous are. Mclean hatch, Doc robinson hatch, Gerrard (They're spangle), blueface, gilmore, and a few others.. They usually are dark wine red in the color (Some having a a lemon hackle (Light yellow around the bottom of the hackle a lot of the times) and green legs.. Pretty much a BBred with green legs though there are "Yellow legged hatch's " as well.. But no reason to get caught up on names, you can call them pretty much whatever you want as in, White's, blacks, reds, etc..

Most american gamefowl strains are just strains bred by certain people for 40-50 years (most gamefowl owners commit they're whole lives to the one line and breed). And in that they attach they're last names to the, Hatch, grey, white etc.. Though some like to use nicknames, or marks..
