I don't know if this is in the right section or not. Mods please move it if it needs to be somewhere else.
Last night, around 2:45, I heard a veh drive into our driveway. I woke DH. He went downstairs while I watched thru the bedroom window. The pickup drove clear back into our barnyard, just past the yard light. I heard a door open, then "thought" I heard a bwak, bwak. The door closed and the pickup turned around and left.
I went downstairs and DH and I went outside to see what the person had been doing. DH had a flashlight and was looking around. DH then said to me, one of your chickens is out. I said it's not mine. I told him about the bwak I heard. (I just thought it was possilby from the barn) DH wasn't able to catch it. I went and looked. It was a BO rooster! I just processed 6 extras 3 wks ago, because I had too many roos! Now, someone in their infinite wisdom, decided to leave me another...
I can't catch it. I have no place to isolate it. I don't really want to shoot it, but what else should I do. I can't let my own birds out, because he will mingle with them. I'll be able to tell him apart from the rest, but I DON'T WANT ANOTHER ROO!
The person that dropped him off had to have known that I had BO's. My chickens are never in the front yard. They spend all their time in the back 6 acres. My theory is, he stole the roo from his own neighbor because of the crowing. He needed to rehome. It sure would have been nice to be asked.
Oh yes, this roo started crowing at 3:45 this am. I'm sure my neighbors appreciated that. It was finally nice enough to sleep with the windows open. I'm sure everyone got to enjoy him last night.
Sorry for the rant. I can't stand stupid unthinking people.
