Some questions before our first quail hatch.

We have some Coturnix quail hatching in about 2 weeks and we had a few questions before they hatch. Do they need grit (I am assuming yes) if so, can they use the same chick grit that I have for my chicks? Will purina flock raiser work for the quail chicks? That is what they suggested at the feed store in my area. Any good tips or suggestions about raising them in general would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Never Trust The Feed Store Clerk.... Their Sole Purpose For Being Is To Sell You What They Have On Hand.

Ideally They Should Get Gamebird Starter--- 30% Protien

Grit Is Nice, But Not Necessary

I use flock raiser for mine and don't have any problems. If you feed them flock raiser (or gamebird starter, which is better for them) only they don't need grit. Likewise, if you give them boiled egg yolks or ground/mashed cat food, they don't need grit. When they need it is if you give them things like greens or grains/seeds, they will need grit to help digest it.
