I got my chicks from TSC, and while some of them were sexed already, their sign said something along the lines of "Could be Breed X, Breed Y, or Breed Z." I didn't think to take a picture of their signs to narrow it down, and when I called the store, the man in the livestock department was less than helpful. All I asked was that he go over and read the signs in the certain bins to me, but he wouldn't. His reply? "Any experienced chicken farmer can tell you what they are." Well, that's fine and dandy, but I haven't had chickens since I was about 6, and there aren't many chicken farmers in the area...more cows than anything!
I think the chicks that look like this are the Rhode Island Reds. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
What could my little yellows be? I was thinking buff orpingtons or white leghorns, but then I saw a picture of some golden comets and thought, well......maybe!
I had to do the tummy picture, because they all have those little grey-ish line down their tummies.
I've also got these older chicks that are pretty feisty...they don't like to be held. I bought them from TSC when they were about three weeks old...makes me wish that the employees there would handle the chicks so they're used to people. I have no idea what kind of chicken these ones are...
Thanks in advance for the help!!! I wish I could sex these birds at this point, but that's for another thread and another time.
