Someone dropped a box of 17 chickens at the end of our driveway... Hayes, VA

Frizzles, polish, silkies, bantams, Welsummers, etc...

We were able to catch six, but the rest are quicker. Why would someone do that? Anyone in Virginia know of someone doing this? Any ideas on how we can catch the rest?

Our gravel driveway is about 1/4 of a mile. It's almost like someone knew we had chickens, but if they did why not just offer them?

They were probably trying to get rid of the cockerels, so figured that they would dump them on you.

Well we're up to 13 so far. The other 5, turns out there were 18, went pretty deep into the woods.

Definitely a beautiful mix of birds

Gotta say I really admire your effort in catching these birds, so they don't just get eaten by a coyote or run over. Even if you can't keep them all, at least they'll be safe and fed until you can figure out what to do with them. Hopefully they're healthy enough that you can keep a few, if you've got the room for them.
