Someone thought it would be funny to put a rooster in a guys truck as a joke. Not knowing where to bring him, the prank victim brought him to me and said if I didnt take him he'd just let him loose on the side of the road.
I do not want another rooster, I don't want the 10 I already have.
So now I have this guy. Any guesses on breed? Age? He has a good crow to him and hes a little bigger than my 17 week old cockerels now. I haven't tried to touch him, just moved him from a cat carrier to a dog crate. Letting him calm down a bit. I dont wanna introduce to my flock cause I dont wanna cause problems or risk spreading anything.
I have 7 going to freezer camp this weekend, 1 going to a new flock. I fi ally narrowed it down to my Naked Neck Turken and Black Copper Marans.. and then this beauty shows up.
Not sure if it's worth trying to find this guy a home, incorporate him into my flock or send him off with the others.
Tis the season I guess?
Any advice?
Not sure what I'm looking for, guess just a discussion. How have you dealt with abandoned roosters?

@aart
We figured out where he came from, they thought it was a great joke and said they dont want him back. Apparently hes a mean one. So I feel less bad about shipping him off with the others now, what a wild last few days for him though.

@Chickassan I find the community I'm in is so quick to judge if som thing goes wrong with a bird and because I literally know nothing about him, or if hes carrying anything I think I'll just send him to freezer camp. I don't want to be responsible for bringing down a healthy flock. He certainly is a good looking roo though. I purposely have stayed away from adult birds because I'm not set up for the integration and quarantine right now, maybe one day I can get some new members when the timing is right.

I have no idea, he's some sort of game bird though.
He just appeared, wandered in with my flock slept in the tree that overhangs the coop at night.
He behaved himself for two days then decided to fight both my boys at dinner so I snatched him up during the distraction.
I asked the neighborhood and nobody claimed him, one guy had that look on his face though like he owned him but didn't want to claim him.
Guess he thought he might have caused some damages, he didn't though no spurs yet plenty of bravado though.:)
(what breed is that?)
