Someone dropped off a starved almost dead cockeral *update

No idea what breed... sorry!

Sounds like he's gonna bond pretty tightly to you for the love and care you are providing in his time of need. He is sure to show you years of gratitude!

well I'm almost 100% sure he's a he on account of the pointed feathers on his neck and back can't tell from his tail really because he's only got like 4 feathers left on it. I don't quite think he's a cornish X because he's regulating his food intake and he's not stuffing his crop past full

yea i was thinking white rock hen as well, our white rock hen (named big moma) was the center of a major dispute between me and the ol lady until she started layin

Hope you don't mind two observations. One definitely watch for signs of illness. I had a hen get sick and while she got better she just wasn't right. Didn't lay cause she wasn't eating right. Only bread and watermelon rind but no feed that I could see. Anyhow I had to cull her after a month or more of waiting. I was too afraid to put her back with the flock.
Two it is possible that he/she isn't a breed that foragaes well. Some "production" breeds don't know how to forage.
Finally it was nice of you to take her/him in. I would have tried to find someone to take my girl in but no one in their right mind would take in a bird that has been sick.

I know whatcha meant, I'm just a little frazzled and like I said that's what I thought he was at first. But a White rock could be a good thing, I'm happy as long as it's not a meatie because I don't know if I'd be able to butcher him after nursing him back to health.
The people who dropped him off were real sneaky about it too, I found him lying at the top of the stairs on my front porch
